Ayurveda – The Science of Life
Ayurveda is known to have existed 5000 years ago, and is generally considered by many scholars and historians as the oldest living system of medicine and health care in the world.
As the “science of life”, the focus of Ayurveda has always been on creating a balanced, vibrant state of healthy mind, body and spirit: life lived with vitality, expanded awareness and in harmonious relationship with the environment, the laws of nature and the cosmos, and our fellow beings on our beautiful planet.
Ayurveda has much to offer modern medicine, which, despite its remarkable achievements, sometimes lacks this holistic perspective.
This state of total health can be achieved through a vast array of preventative and rejuvenative teachings and practices of Ayurveda: lifestyle and dietary recommendations, herbal tonics, detoxification regimens, exercise methods such as yoga postures, meditation and more.
Whether for prevention, healing or rejuvenation, all of these are individually tailored for maximum benefit, according to a person’s prakruti or individual constitution. This is perhaps the greatest contribution of Ayurveda to the field of medicine.

Ayurvedic Case Study Testimonials
Recently, I undertook a case study with 4 amazing women from my local community. They were all to receive a weekly one hour kansa wand facelift massage for four weeks. The intention was to see just how effective this ancient Indian healing modality is on natural healing and rejuvenation of the facial tone and structure. The results were more than remarkable. All of the participants reported feeling more connected to their bodies, improved clarity of thought, less stress levels, de-congested sinus, improved sleep, improved digestion as well as having some well deserved appreciative comments from family members and friends.
The treatment was made up of two parts.
Part one - face and neck massage stimulating the marma points and lymph nodes using manual hand massage with a customized aromatherapy oil to support their individual doshas.
Part two - Marma point and muscle tissue massage with the Bronze Kansa Wand.
Each participant was given a customized blend of facial oil that I created to use at home, morning and evening. These oils on their own support the person in mind, body and spirit, and was to used as part of their self love routine.
Due to privacy issues I won't be publishing all the studies. Bette however was kind enough to share her journey with you.

Case Study - Bette (Vata) Skin Type - Combination
Bette’s main desire in receiving this treatment was to build her immune system, improve her well-being and clear her congestion in her sinuses. Bette is a very active member of the community, she loves gardening and belongs to many organisations where she dedicates her time, knowledge and energy. Bette experiences numbness at times on her lower right jaw and during this study Bette was also undergoing some dental work.
- Prior to receiving this treatment Bette was experiencing severe tooth/gum sensitivity to her right upper jaw. She had dry skin between her eyebrows on “Sthapani”her 6th chakra (3rd eye).
- After her first treatment she reported that the next morning, her resting heart beat was much lower, the pain in her mouth had improved, so much that her visit to her dentist was much more proactive rather than reactive, and her sinuses had cleared considerably.
- After Bette’s 2nd treatment, she reported that she had slept really well. Bette felt that her overall well-being had improved, and even though she had been really busy with her extramural activities, she was not at all stressed.
- Bette felt really tired after her 3rd treatment and was aware that her body was still detoxing, so she took it easy and the next day was back to her normal self. Bette reported that her previous sinus congestion was still continuing to improve.
- *Bette’s final treatment was 10 days after the previous KWM as she had a tooth extracted and was advised by her therapist to allow the pain to settle before receiving the final massage. Bette remarked that she could feel a real difference in her general well-being by receiving a treatment on day 10 rather than day 7…the tooth extraction wasn’t helping Bette feel well at all.
conclusion:
Bette's skin looks plumper and her cheeks fuller, firmer and higher. The texture on the neck is smoother and the forehead lines are smooter. Laughter lines around the mouth are much less defined and the overall skin texture and pores on the face are noticeably finer.
Therapists Comments:
It was lovely to work with Bette, the feedback each week was really helpful. I am certain that the Kansa Wand Massage fully supported Bette in her recovery from the dental work, and also helped her to feel better in body, mind and spirit while this way going on.
I am thrilled that Bette was able to get a lot more out of the Kansa Wand Facelift Massage than either of us even expected was possible. Aromatherapy and Marma point stimulation definitely help the body, mind and spirit in so many ways. Bette has a really busy life and her clarity of thought is needed. This KW session with daily “Belly Unwinding” at home, has really helped Bette be more in touch with her body so she can do the things she loves. Bette commented that this treatment helped her sinuses which were also triggered when she ate dairy. It’s good to know what your body like and dislikes…it is also a blessing to be totally, that present and aware, don’t you think? I loved hearing that Bette doesn’t wear any makeup except for the oils that I created for her. She certainly doesn’t need makeup, she does have a lovely even complexion.
Update:
On Bette’s latest visit, I happily noticed that the dry skin between her eyebrows had cleared away. I have advised Bette to re apply the face oil to her skin on days when it is windy and she is outdoors gardening. (see Bette's testimonial below)

I think my sinus is much better. I can wake up most mornings and not have a blocked up head. My well-being, considering I have had some dental work ongoing, has been pretty good. I have not felt unwell. After the last treatment I did not experience the tiredness that I had previously. Budget allowing I would love to continue these treatments. I particularly loved the aromatherapy hot stone massage with foot and face included. I have told my friends about this. I have been recommending the treatments to people I know and will continue to do so. Also, Pauline’s skill and gentle nurturing ways are just wonderful. I think the Kansa Wand Massage has had really good results with the tone of my skin. Ï went to a school reunion last week and I constantly had comments about how well I was holding my age and how good I looked. I was really chuffed to think that so many people said that to me. The Kansa Wand Massage has enhanced the youthfulness of my face. The surprise of the Kansa Wand Massage was the transition from the hands to the wand was not obvious. It flowed almost as one continuous movement. I was surprised that I slept - it was so relaxing and enjoyable but I was sorry I was not fully aware of every second of it. |
I cannot thank Pauline from Healing Touch enough for the Ayurveda massage treatments that I have recently received at her health and wellness studio. |
I would definitely recommend this treatment for people that are fearful or shy to receive a full body massage, and who want a healthier alternative to botox/cosmetic type treatment. |
The very best facial massage I have experienced, exceeded my expectations, highly recommended, will return for more massage. |
