Choosing a therapist to work with can sometimes be very hard and scary, we get to know a lot of intimate details about you, but you don’t usually get to know about us. So, I thought that I would put together just a broad outline of who I am, so that you can decide for yourself whether “I am for you”.
My name is Pauline, at the time of writing this it is the Year of the Snake in 2013. I am a 42 year old passionate mother of two. My son is 20 years old and my daughter is 16. I am currently divorced but in a long term relationship with an amazing man. I met my children’s father when I was at the very young age of 17, he was 40. All through my adult life I have attracted people that needed sexual relationship advice or help, which was ironic because my own sex life was severely lacking. “But one does not need to be a perfect vessel to do perfect work”... I really only achieved my first orgasm when I was 33. And I do confess it was from a vibrator, not my husband. I still remember the day he threw me out of the house and locked the doors, because I had been pleasuring myself without him. I had decided to buy myself a sex toy after a friend suggested that it would help me.
What absolute amazing bliss, this was the beginning of my “coming out”, the unlocking of my “voice” and my inhibitions, until then I had not been able to articulate to my spouse, just how depressed I was, how horny I was, how frustrated and angry or disappointed in our love life or the lack of a love life. And then all of a sudden my husband started getting erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, and this led me to even more frustration and heartache, because now there was no longer any spontaneity in our sex life. Everything had to be planned ahead of time so that he could take his pill so he could maintain an erection. Lovemaking for us was in the dark, no foreplay, not what it should have or could have been. I remember one day he came home with a strap on dildo, and tried to have sex with me, with it. I could see the hurt and bruised ego in his eyes, he just wanted to please me and thought that a hard cock was the only way I could be satisfied, but all these methods were not working. I hated it, I felt dirty and I did not feel loved or connected in any way. It scared me.
I cannot help but think that had I had the opportunity to experience Tantra or Sensual Couples Therapy back then, things would have turned out differently. So it is with a lot of irony that I am now offering these services that I wish I had been able to enjoy back when I was married. In fact I sincerely believe that our teenagers need to be learning this art before they start experiencing sex.
Day by day I started giving up on my marriage, I just did not have the capacity at the age of 33 to see myself living like this for the rest of my life. I was angry and I blamed my husband for his lack of sexual expertise in the bedroom. I was of the opinion back then that, it was the man’s job to make a woman reach orgasm. Little did I know.
So I ran, I gave up on the relationship because I felt that if I couldn’t have a great normal sex life, there was nothing else worth staying for. We didn’t have much else in common besides the kids, and the age gap felt like it was growing. He was always tired or tied to the television, I yearned for companionship, great sex with the lights on, fun and excitement and a social life.
Realizing that It would never happen with my husband, I began counselling and going to a women’s group where I learnt a lot more about myself, and how I could make myself happy instead of expecting someone else to do that for me. So three years later I had gathered up enough courage to make the final break. I still remember placing a Rose Quartz crystal in his hand to help mend his broken heart. I felt terrible, but it had to be done.
In 2006 I completed my Reiki I and Reiki II certification, this only made me more aware of my inner strength and power as a healer. I confined myself to only sharing this new gift with friends, family,plants and animals, I didn’t feel I was the perfect vessel yet to help others....little did I know.
I was also running a successful landscaping business at the same time right up until I left my husband, then I hopped over to New Zealand with my children and started a new life in the beautiful Bay of Plenty where I started Eco Gardens by Pauline whilst completing my Horticultural Studies.
In 2010 I was encouraged by Spirit to further my education in Healing, so I enrolled in a Bachelors in Holistic Theology and Spiritual Care by the American Institute of Holistic Theology. So this I am currently completing. All of the modules that are within this programme, have been complementing my Holistic Health pathway. Some of the modules include Aromatherapy, Chinese Medicine, Healing Touch with Quantum Touch, Unwinding the Belly, Herbalism, Family Dynamics, Astrology, Feng Shui, Interfaith Ministries, Spiritual Guidance for Children, as well as A Course in Miracles.
I am amazed every day, how intertwined the work that I study filters through into my massage practice with my clients.
I do not believe that there are any mistakes in this world. Everything is at it should be at this moment in time. All our trials and tribulations, are experienced so that we can learn and grow from them and I am no exception.
The Tantra philosophy is one of wholeness and of embracing everything, because every situation whether pleasant or not so pleasant, is an opportunity to become more aware about who you are and how you can expand your capacities.
In 2012 I completed an Urban Tantra Practitioner’s Mastery with Barbarra Carrellas which further opened me up to the magnificent world of Tantra. My beautiful son paid for me to do this work, because he believed in me. What an affirmation!
It was after this amazing journey that I felt that I had truly found myself on the right path. My eyes, ears and heart and lungs were now wide open. Who knew that breathe could increase orgasm and pleasure... Now all the experiences that I had ever had, everything that had helped mould me, through my life made absolute sense.
